About Recess Ops

The family of punk labels that helped form the core of Recess Ops really was a family. For years, we had played shows with each others bands, drank in each others vans, shopped in each others stores, crashed on each others floors. The idea was to do a distro that could evoke as much fun and energy and have as much integrity as all the other parts of the organism-the record stores, the labels, the bands, and the fans.

Friends Todd Congelliere (Recess Records) and Isaac Thotz (the Arrivals) founded Recess Ops with two simple goals in mind:

1. Work hard for customers.

2. Be fair and transparent with labels, bands, and vendors.

 We ask labels to keep prices low. We take a smaller cut for ourselves. We go above and beyond to serve customers at all costs. The way we do business isn't a short cut to profitability. It's the path to fulfillment.
